The Appaloosa Horse Club Board
of Directors recently reviewed extensive member input as well
as information from a special oversight committee relating to
the move of the 2008-2010 National Appaloosa Shows and World
Championship Appaloosa Youth Shows to Jackson, Mississippi.
In response to a need expressed by many exhibitors and other
members for a definitive statement on the status of the move,
the board offers this specific assurance – the shows will be
held in Jackson as planned. An official announcement letter
is forthcoming from President Dennis Dean and the Board of Directors.
Beyond the basics of organizing the events,
ApHC is also firmly committed to a variety of marketing and
public relations efforts to enhance the experience for all who
participate – exhibitors, owners, sponsors, fans, and the horses
themselves. The oversight committee and ApHC staff will continue
to monitor and address the various questions and concerns that
have been raised, many of which are common to all venues. Equally
important will be the energy with which the Appaloosa community
works to build momentum for hosting a showcase event in a new
part of the country.
“We are especially pleased to have an enthusiastic
partnership with the Jackson Convention & Visitors Bureau,
Fairgrounds staff and other local officials,” notes ApHC CEO
Steve Taylor. “Everyone we’ve met has been eager to help us
make the shows successful and enjoyable. Jackson is serious
about Southern hospitality and we’re anxious to share that spirit
with our members.”
