Thanks to a new incentive package, timed-event
ropers at the 2007 World Championship Appaloosa Show will
compete for over $40,000 in added cash and prizes. This year’s
show is set for October 26 – November 3 in Fort Worth, Texas.
Contestants in two open and two non-pro roping classes will
divide a cash purse of $10,500. Fund donors include Mike Mataya,
M&C Ranch; and Hyman and Julia Young, owners of Appaloosa
performance horse Last Day Lite. The prize list also includes
an S&H horse trailer from Sundowner of Texas; a ton of
Nutrena feed; trophy saddles from Luskey’s/Ryon’s and Coats
Saddlery; roping dummies from Hot Heels; trophy buckles from
Gist; and saddle pads from Classic Equine.
“This incentive package is designed to showcase the performance
abilities of Appaloosa rope horses, and to reward the owners
and exhibitors who chose Appaloosas as their roping mounts,”
said Steve Taylor, Appaloosa Horse Club CEO.
Ropers must qualify in the open events, by earning points
at ApHC-approved shows held between September 1, 2006, and
August 31, 2007. The classes requiring pre-qualification are:
open timed tie-down roping (three points) and open timed heading
and heeling (4 points).
A list of shows remaining in the qualification
period is available from the Appaloosa Horse Club.
Non-pros don’t have to qualify this year for the two classes
that are new to the World Show this year. These classes are
non-pro timed tie-down and non-pro heading and heeling.
