Hi! This is Callaway and I just wanted to drop by say thank you SO much for including me in this year’s events.

Dear Appaloosa Friends:

Hi! This is Callaway and I just wanted to drop by say thank you SO much for including me in this year’s events. The countdown has begun, and I can’t tell you how excited I am to be able to meet some of you! I am really looking forward to that more than anything....and to meeting your beautiful Appaloosas.

We received several issues of the Appaloosa Journal the other day, and I have fallen in love with your breed of horses. They are truly magnificent, and quite easily the most beautiful animals I have ever seen. While I have a couple of horses down in Texas, I am a singer, not a rider. I am hoping we can all learn something from one another when we meet in Jackson!

I also wrote a children’s book in the 7th grade about my little country pony, Rowdy. We are both the same age, 16 going on 17. Rowdy’s Lesson is part fiction and part non-fiction. It’s a fun story about a little pony who wants to grow up too fast. It is based at my father’s house and mini-ranch Texas, and all of the horses who live there. Rowdy is the smallest, and is often into mischief.

My book was so well received by Lulu Publishing that they suggested I write a series. I am already working on the next Rowdy book called Rowdy and the Big Apple....and no, it’s not about him in New York! It will again be a fiction/fact story about Rowdy’s invitation to the 2008 World Champion Appaloosa Youth Show by his life long friend, Callaway (me), to hear her sing a concert there. While at the show Rowdy meets a horse who is beautiful, wealthy and well-traveled, but is also very lonely. At first they do not like each other because they are so different, but as time and events happen, they realize that they are more alike....and that friendship is the greatest of all riches!!

Here is where you all come in—Rowdy and I are looking for a wonderful Appaloosa to become Rowdy’s new best friend, Apple. (Rowdy can’t remember Apple’s fancy long name, so he nicknames him.) Anyway, I hope to meet you and ALL of your wonderful animals, and take pictures to for the back cover of the new book. If you are interested in your horse (and you) becoming Rowdy’s new friend, Apple, please find me at the show and introduce yourselves.

Also, I had decided that I had been so blessed in my life to be doing the one thing that I love, that if I ever had the chance to publish Rowdy’s Lesson, then I would use that book to help give back. I am very pleased to let all of my Appaloosa friends know that a portion of the proceeds from Rowdy’s Lesson is being donated to the Appaloosa Youth Scholarship Fund. I am excited about doing this benefit concert for all of you, and about being able to donate something back to you as well!

Again, this book will be used to help raise more money for your scholarship fund Don’t forget to buy “Rowdy’s Lesson” at the 2008 World Championship Appaloosa Youth Show, so that we can start helping add to your wonderful organization, which I am so proud and honored to be a part of this year!

I can’t wait to see all of you in Jackson!!! Write me at www.myspace.com/callawaymusic123 or drop me a note at callaymac@aol.com. The countdown to the fun begins!!! See you soon!!

Love,

Callaway
