The Appaloosa Youth Association (AYA) and
the Appaloosa Horse Club (ApHC) would like to congratulate
the Oklahoma Appaloosa Youth Club for winning the 2008 Regional
Youth Club of the Year contest!
Members of the association compiled a wonderful scrapbook
of last year’s activities, and displayed the importance of
charity events, unity, and most importantly, fun in their
scrapbook.
When asked what activities they do to promote the Appaloosa
breed they responded by simply stating, “Appaloosas promote
themselves…every event [we] attend, [we] are promoting the
breed.”
The club is comprised of approximately 25-35 members from
throughout Oklahoma, ranging in age from toddlers to 18 years
old.
The Oklahoma Appaloosa Youth Club is an extremely active group
that has over the years displayed how hard work and dedication
will pay off. This group participates actively in 4-H, rodeos,
local shows, trail rides, charity fundraisers and breed shows—all
while finding the time to take a swim with their Appaloosas
in the local pond. Before their favorite show, the World Championship
Youth Show, members of the Oklahoma Appaloosa Youth Club like
to gather at a central location for a swimming/pizza party
to unwind. Their parents’ philosophy for the kids is for them
“to stay grounded and have fun.”
The group has won recognition in Appaloosa Journal, the ApHC
Email newsletter and the AYA web site and will receive an
engraved plaque at the 2008 Year-end Youth Banquet in Jackson,
Mississippi. They also won $100 to be used for club activities
or awards.
The 2008 Regional Club of the Year scrapbook will be on display
throughout the year at the Appaloosa Museum in Moscow, Idaho,
and during the 2009 World Championship Youth Show in Jackson,
Mississippi.
