Appaloosa owner and enthusiast Phil Dawson
of Hagerman, Idaho, is making his way throughout the western
most states in an effort to raise $10 million on behalf of
his charity America Fundraisers Inc., which benefits the needy
children of America. Phil began his trek May 1 in Idaho, and
will travel through Nevada, California, Oregon and Washington
before ending his journey in Lewiston, Idaho.
Accompany Phil on his journey is a Satellite Professional
Tracker or “SPOT” unit, allowing everyone to follow Phil by
visiting www.americafundraisers.org
and clicking “SPOT Phil 2009.”
Follow Phil as he is currently negotiating rough terrain with
his Appaloosa, Chip, and a pack mule toward Denio, Nev. He
has already had a handful of interesting experiences involving
snowy mountains and bogs, said Patty Dawson, Phil’s wife,
but she invites fellow riders to join Phil for part of the
ride.
“I truly hope that other horse owners will be interested in
meeting up with Phil and ride a distance,” Patty said. “He
is planning on hitting the corner of California and then turning
up towards Burns, Ore., and into Pendleton, then Walla Walla,
Wash. He's making much better time than I thought he would.”
Anyone interested in joining Phil on his ride or opening up
a barn to him and his travel companions along his journey,
please call his cell phone at (208) 841-2215.
