ApHC members, consignors and
prospective buyers from throughout the U.S. and several countries
gathered October 26th at 9 p.m. at the Will Rogers Memorial
Center in Fort Worth, Texas, to view nearly 70 quality Appaloosas
up for auction in the 2011 World Appaloosa Sale.
The highly anticipated annual event, hosted
by the Appaloosa Horse Club (ApHC) and held in conjunction
with the prestigious World Championship Appaloosa Show, is
comprised of several sales, including the Yearling Incentive
Sale, the Broodmare Incentive Sale and the Select Appaloosa
Sale.
This year’s overall sale average was $3,043;
The Top Five high selling average was $11,940 and the Top
Ten average was $9,130. The 2011 World Appaloosa Sale over-all
top seller was Chipped My Ride who was consigned to the Yearling
Incentive Sale and sold for $17,000, followed by EW Love Charm
(Select Sale) for $12,500; Sure Am Chocolatey (Yearling Incentive)
for $11,700; Only In Texas (Yearling Incentive) for $10,000;
Art I A Barbie (Yearling Incentive) for $8,500; Lins Suprise
Package (Yearling Incentive) for $7,500; MH Reward My Dreams
(Select Sale) for $7,200; LB Radical Habits (Yearling Incentive)
for $6,400; Shes All Lady (Broodmare Incentive) for $5,300;
Mi Vida Luka (Broodmare Incentive) for $5,200.
“Despite ongoing concerns about general economic
conditions and the viability of the horse market, World Sale
consignors presented an outstanding collection of quality
horses. Bidders were discerning, but willing to pay for superior
genetics and proven performance,” said ApHC CEO Steve Taylor.
Appaloosas purchased through the Yearling
Incentive Sale and resulting foals of mares in the Broodmare
Incentive Sale are eligible to compete in the Two-Year-Old
World Sale Incentive classes at the World Championship Appaloosa
Show. These three classes are guaranteed to offer a minimum
of $10,000 in prize money in each class.
