Apache
Land Trail Ride Kicks Off The Trail Riding Season
The Apache Land Trail Ride is an all-breed trail ride that is done
in a wagon-wheel fashion. Riders will leave base camp each morning
to experience a new and exciting trail every day. The Wild Horse Trail
Camp is one of the most scenic campgrounds in America. Blue sky, blue
mountains, evergreen and oak make up the essence of this resting place
that is nestled in the very heart of the Kiamichi Mountains in southeastern
Oklahoma. Tucked away at the foot of Wild Horse Mountain, you will
ride trails made by Indians, Outlaws and Settlers.
Meals will be provided by The Wild Horse Trail Camp, starting with
the evening meal on Sunday, April 16 and ending with breakfast on
Saturday, April 22. Sack lunches will be provided for lunch on the
trail. All horse breeds are welcome.
Entertainment for the ride includes music, dancing, award ceremonies,
and relaxing camaraderie. The Wild Horse Trail Camp will provide several
extra amenities, including home cooked meals with fresh baked cinnamon
rolls for breakfast and fresh baked bread and rolls for the evening
meal; electric hookups; laundry facilities on request and hot showers.
Deadline to sign up for the ride is March
15, so plan your vacation today! Visit the ApHC’s Web site
at www.appaloosa.com

celebrates employee’s 20 years of service
The ApHC held a celebration in February to honor Senior Accountant
Debi Griffin’s 20 years of employment with the club. Debi has
made a positive impact on the club and her contributions are an inspiration
for all those who work with her. “From day one, the Appaloosa
stole my heart with its breathtaking beauty, and even now 20 years
later, I’m still awestruck!” says Debi. “I’m
very grateful to the Appaloosa and excitedly share the passion for
my job and our distinctive horse … not many can say their accounting
job deals with horses. And what they say is true—if you get
to do what you love, you’ll never have to work a day in your
life. Thanks Appaloosa!”

characteristics. |

Appaloosa
Horse Club Updates Appearance
of Certificate of Registration In
an effort to better serve its membership, the ApHC is issuing new
registration certificates to owners who apply for Foundation Pedigree
Designation (FPD) and Generational Advancement Program. (GAP).
| For purposes of designating a
horse FPD, in the past the ApHC adhered a sticker with an
image of Chief Joseph and the percentage of FPD on the horse’s
certificate. With the implementation of the GAP in January
2006, the ApHC realized that an additional sticker would clutter
the certificate, especially on those certificates already
bearing DNA stickers and inspectors’ stamps. The solution
was to streamline the manner in which FPD and GAP designations
would appear on ApHC certificates of registration. |

|
Since applications for FPD and GAP must be accompanied
by current photographs of the horse, it was determined that a professional
appearance could be obtained most easily by reprinting the certificates
to include the FPD and GAP designations once the new data was entered
into the horses’ files. The FPD and GAP designations will appear
to the right of the foal date, eliminating the need for stickers
for both programs. If DNA is on file for the horse, that will also
be added to the description line. |
