Please help find seven stolen horses

Please help find seven stolen horses, Michelle Stewart’s mother Brenda Thompson passed away in November 2005, leaving Michelle with 22 registered Appaloosas and two POAs. Michelle was completing paperwork to sell nine of the horses to one buyer. Before the paperwork was completed and any money exchanged hands, the buyer took seven of the horses from their home in Morgantown, Kentucky., Michelle has been working with Stolen Horse International, who produced a flyer and sent it to many of their members. Michelle has posted, mailed and e-mailed the flyer to as many people as she can., “These horses were my mother's life and I want desperately to find them and make sure they get good homes, ” Michelle says. “I have since found out, that the buyer has been charged with animal cruelty.”, The link to the flyer is, www.netposse.com/stolenmissing/pdfflyers/SevenAppsKYmissingMar06.pdf, If you have any information about any of these horses, contact Michelle at mmousee@bellsouth.net or (615) 792-9294.

ApHC updates appearance of registration certificate

In an effort to better serve its membership, the ApHC is issuing new registration certificates to owners who apply for Foundation Pedigree Designation (FPD) and Generational Advancement Program (GAP).
For purposes of designating a horse FPD, in the past the ApHC adhered a sticker with an image of Chief Joseph and the percentage of FPD on the horse’s certificate. With the implementation of the GAP in January 2006, the ApHC realized that an additional sticker would clutter the certificate, especially on those certificates already bearing DNA stickers and inspectors’ stamps. The solution was to streamline the manner in which FPD and GAP designations would appear on ApHC certificates of registration.
Since applications for FPD and GAP must be accompanied by current photographs of the horse, it was determined that a professional appearance could be obtained most easily by reprinting the certificates to include the FPD and GAP designations once the new data was entered into the horses’ files. The FPD and GAP designations will appear to the right of the foal date, eliminating the need for stickers for both programs. If DNA is on file for the horse, that will also be added to the description line.

   Registration Fee Schedule

Allow six to eight weeks for your certificate of registration. The ApHC offers rush orders, so contact the registration department if you need your certificate in less time. Registration fees are:
Foal date to 6th month foal date: $30 members and $95 non-members
7th–12th month foal date: $50 members and $115 non-members
13th–24th month foal date: $100 members and $215 non-members
25th–36th month foal date: $200 members and $415 non-members
37th month and thereafter: $250 members and $515 non-members

   Foundation Pedigree Designation

The FPD classification on your horse’s certificate of registration provides proof of Appaloosa bloodlines and important clues to breeding potential. By taking notice of valuable foundation bloodlines, breeders are able to select desired qualities such as conformation, soundness, athletic ability and Appaloosa characteristics.

Visit the ApHC web site at www.appaloosa.com/downloadableforms.shtm for enrollment forms, or apply when registering or transferring horses. If you have questions or would like a free printout of horses you own that may be eligible, contact the registration department at ext. 300 or registration@appaloosa.com.

   ApHC pedigrees

The ApHC offers four kinds of Appaloosa pedigrees to further promote and preserve the breed:
Five-generation pedigree includes horses’ names and numbers, $15.
Four-generation color pedigree includes horses’ names, numbers, foaling years, Appaloosa base colors and coat patterns, $20.
Four-generation show/race pedigree includes horses’ names, numbers, foaling years, Appaloosa show and race histories, $25.
Three-generation color show/race pedigree includes horses’ names, numbers, foaling years, Appaloosa base colors, coat patterns and show/race histories, $25.
