Appaloosa
Horse Club Offers Aged Horse Special October 1, 2006 - March
31, 2007
The Appaloosa Horse Club is offering members
an opportunity to register eligible Appaloosas over
two years of age for the reduced rate of only $150!
ApHC Regional Clubs are eligible for monetary incentive
by recruiting members to take advantage of this special opportunity.
Contact the Regional Club Coordinator (ext. 235 or regionalclubs@appaloosa.com)
for more information.
The Aged Horse Special will run from October 1, 2006 through
March 31, 2007.
Eligibility Requirements:
• ApHC members only (you
may purchase a membership at the time of registration)
• Applicant horse may be eligible for Regular (#) or Non-characteristic
(N) classification
• Applicant horse must be two years old or older
• Applicant horse must meet all registration requirements
• Applicant horse must meet ApHC bloodline requirement:
at least one parent must be ApHC-registered with Regular (#)
classification; non-Appaloosa parents must be registered with
an approved breed association (AQHA, JC, or AHA)
|
|
Performance
Permits To replace CPO
Beginning January 1, 2007, the Appaloosa
Horse Club (ApHC) will issue Performance Permits to ApHC-registered,
non-characteristic (N) Appaloosas. Permits allow all non-characteristic
Appaloosas, regardless of parentage or age, to show in ApHC-approved
and -sponsored events as well as race with results counting toward
ApHC race awards. Once a permit is issued, it remains in effect
for the life of the horse, regardless of ownership changes.
Performance Permits eliminate the
current Certified Pedigree Option (CPO) program, as well as costly
CPO fees and inspections. Non-characteristic horses planning to
show in 2006 are required to complete the CPO program prior to
showing. Appaloosas entered in the current CPO program shall remain
eligible to show in ApHC-approved or -sponsored events as well
as earn ApHC race awards for the life of that horse.
Prior to applying for Performance Permits, Appaloosas must be
ApHC-registered. If you own unregistered, non-characteristic Appaloosas,
look for the upcoming Aged Horse Special later this year to receive
reduced rates of registration for older Appaloosas.
Prior to permits being issued, Appaloosas
must be parentage verified through DNA analysis by an ApHC-approved
laboratory. The original certificate of registration, current
photographs of the horse, and applicable fees (see fee schedule
following) must be submitted to the ApHC along with a permit application.
Upon issuance of a permit, an updated certificate of registration
will be returned to the horse owner. Permit application forms
will be available through the ApHC and on the official web site
at www.appaloosa.com in
November 2006.
In an effort to alleviate a backlog
of parentage analyses in January, we recommend that owners considering
purchase of Performance Permits parentage verify all applicant
horses as soon as possible. This is especially important if you
wish to show or race your non-characteristic Appaloosa in January.
Performance Permit fees:
Foal date to 12 months –
Appaloosa x Appaloosa $150 (member) $215 (non-member)
Appaloosa x Approved Outcross $250 (member) $315 (non-member)
13 months and older –
Appaloosa x Appaloosa $300 (member) $365 (non-member)
Appaloosa x Approved Outcross $500 (member) $565 (non-member)
For a one-year introductory period,
January 1 through December 31, 2007, eligible Appaloosas may enroll
at the applicable weanling fee, regardless of age. These introductory
enrollment fees will expire in 2007 and the applicable fees for
yearlings and older horses will apply beginning January 1, 2008.
For more information, please call
ext. 240.

ApHC
updates appearance of registration certificate
The ApHC will issue new registration certificates
to owners who apply for Foundation Pedigree Designation (FPD)
and the Generational Advancement Program (GAP).
To designate a horse FPD, the ApHC has adhered
a sticker with an image of Chief Joseph and the FPD percentage
to the horse’s certificate. With the implementation of
the GAP in January 2006, the ApHC realized that an additional
sticker would clutter the certificate, particularly on those
already bearing DNA stickers and inspectors’ stamps.
To maintain a professional appearance on the
registration certificates, the ApHC is reprinting them to include
the FPD and GAP designations, which will appear to the right
of the foal date and eliminate the need for stickers for both
programs. If DNA is on file for the horse, that will also be
added to the description line.
|
|
Registration
Fee Schedule
Allow six to eight weeks for your certificate of registration.
The ApHC offers rush orders, so contact the registration department
if you need your certificate in less time.
Registration fees are:
Foal date to 6th month foal
date: $30 members and $95 non-members
7th–12th month foal date: $50 members and $115 non-members
13th–24th month foal date: $100 members and $215 non-members
25th–36th month foal date: $200 members and $415 non-members
37th month and thereafter: $250 members and $515 non-members |
|
|
Foundation
Pedigree Designation
The FPD classification on your horse’s
certificate of registration provides proof of Appaloosa bloodlines
and important clues to breeding potential. By taking notice of
valuable foundation bloodlines, breeders are able to select desired
qualities such as conformation, soundness, athletic ability and
Appaloosa characteristics.
Visit the ApHC web site at
www.appaloosa.com/downloadableforms.shtm for enrollment forms,
or apply when registering or transferring horses. If you have
questions or would like a free printout of horses you own that
may be eligible, contact the registration department at ext. 300
or registration@appaloosa.com. |
