October 27–November 4 World Championship Appaloosa Show in Fort Worth, Texas

Museum Foundation announces raffle winner

R. W. Gwinn of Pullman, WA is the winner of ICA SMOOTH CHIP or "Penny", a 15 hand, 3 year old registered Appaloosa mare raffled by the Appaloosa Museum. A sorrel with white and spots over loin and hips, Penny has Foundation Pedigree Designation and her pedigree includes Goer, Chief Lawyer, Mighty Bright, and Bright Eyes Brother. Penny has had 60 days training and should be a great all-around prospect. This good-natured mare was generously donated by Marc and Sheree Black of ICA Palouse Farm in St. John, Washington

Registration fees are:

Foal date to 6th month foal date: $30 members and $95 non-members
7th–12th month foal date: $50 members and $115 non-members

37th month and thereafter: $250 members and $515 non-members

   Foundation Pedigree Designation

The FPD classification on your horse’s certificate of registration provides proof of Appaloosa bloodlines and important clues to breeding potential. By taking notice of valuable foundation bloodlines, breeders are able to select desired qualities such as conformation, soundness, athletic ability and Appaloosa characteristics.

Visit the ApHC web site at www.appaloosa.com/downloadableforms.shtm for enrollment forms, or apply when registering or transferring horses. If you have questions or would like a free printout of horses you own that may be eligible, contact the registration department at ext. 300 or registration@appaloosa.com.

   ApHC pedigrees

The ApHC offers four kinds of Appaloosa pedigrees to further promote and preserve the breed:
Five-generation pedigree includes horses’ names and numbers, $15.
Four-generation color pedigree includes horses’ names, numbers, foaling years, Appaloosa base colors and coat patterns, $20.
Four-generation show/race pedigree includes horses’ names, numbers, foaling years, Appaloosa show and race histories, $25.
Three-generation color show/race pedigree includes horses’ names, numbers, foaling years, Appaloosa base colors, coat patterns and show/race histories, $25.

   Your stallion needs you

In order for your stallion’s foals to receive a certificate of registration, you must file a yearly stallion breeding report. Reports will not be filed by the ApHC until the stallion has DNA on file. Make sure it’s postmarked by November 30, 2006, to avoid the rush (and the late fee).
