Up-to-date standings online

As part of the plan to bring ApHC members the most current information possible, you can now find up-to-the-minute stats on Leading the Nation and International Top Ten point earners, in addition to the ACAAP top 10, online. We’ve now added some additional features to www.appaloosa.com so that you can view Leading Sire lists for Halter, Hunter in Hand and Performance categories! Click on Show to find these services.

Of special interest to regional show secretaries is the new option to verify the membership status of exhibitors attending your shows. If you have the customer’s membership number, you can look them up on the web site to verify their age, membership, non-pro, and youth status; and novice eligibility. We hope these new online abilities will make it easier for you and give you the most current data available!

World Championship Appaloosa Show Saddles Up for Five More Years at Will Rogers Memorial Center

Fort Worth — Team penning will involve a little ink as leaders from the Appaloosa Horse Club (ApHC) and the City of Fort Worth sign a new five-year contract with Will Rogers Memorial Center (WRMC) and the Fort Worth Convention and Visitors Bureau for its annual World Championship Appaloosa Show.

The signing was at1:30 p.m. Nov. 1 in the Silver Spur Room of the Amon G. Carter Exhibits Hall at WRMC 3401 W. Lancaster Ave. Ceremonial pens were brandished by Steve Taylor, ApHC chief executive officer; Eric Beene, ApHC president; Carter Burdette, District 7 City Councilman and Kirk Slaughter, director of the city’s Public Events Department.

“Will Rogers Memorial Center is an excellent facility,” praises Steve Taylor. “The City of Fort Worth, the staff and the community have always made us feel very welcome. People who travel to Fort Worth for our show enjoy the city and all it offers. Cowboys are still welcome.”

More than 1,000 Appaloosas participated in the show, which awarded more than 145 World Championship titles in cattle, western, English, jumping, games and halter competitions.
Kirk Slaughter says the city is very pleased to continue its relationship with the show, “The Appaloosa Horse Club is one of the finest equestrian groups in the world. We’re very proud to be its host facility.”

The nine-day event has been staged at WRMC for 18 years and has more than a $10.9 million annual impact on Fort Worth’s economy.

The first Appaloosa World Horse Show at WRMC was in 1989. This year’s show ran October 26 - November 3. WRMC was the site for 429 events last year, including the month-long Fort Worth Stock Show.

Aflac partners with ApHC

The ApHC announces a partnership with American Family Life Assurance Company of Columbus (Aflac) to bring members discounts on Aflac services available in their home states. Aflac representatives will be available to answer questions, provide detailed information and sign you up for services at the Best of the West Gift Expo being held in conjunction with the 2007 World Championship Appaloosa Show.

When a medical emergency strikes, it’s often without warning. For over 50 years, Aflac has provided guaranteed-renewable insurance policies for millions of people worldwide. Aflac has representatives in all 50 states and in several U.S. territories. Aflac insurance policies are being offered to all association members to assist in time of need.

Aflac policyholders receive cash benefits to help cover the expenses associated with a serious illness or accident beyond major medical coverage. Depending on policy and state issuance, Aflac may cover travel and hotel accommodations.

Some policies also offer wellness benefits that include benefits for visiting the doctor for policy-covered screenings. Aflac policies often allow policyholders to control how policy benefits are spent by paying benefits directly to them, unless otherwise assigned, to help with out-of-pocket expenses.

The Appaloosa Advantage Program

Beginning in 2008, Appaloosa Horse Club members will have more advantages than ever! The ApHC is proud to announce that the club has joined forces with the National Thoroughbred Racing Association (NTRA) to bring greater value to your ApHC membership.

The Appaloosa Advantage Program means ApHC members are eligible for preferred pricing on premium brands such as Dodge, John Deere, UPS, Office Max and Sherwin Williams Paint.

Another perk of this new program will allow the ApHC to receive products, such as a John Deere Gator for raffle give-aways at ApHC events. The first Gator give-away was at the 2007 World Show which added another exciting twist on the Show this year. The ApHC would like to congratulate the winner, Irvin Bell from Louisiana who made a truly athletic leap over the railing to accept his prize in the John Justin arena during the Toys for Tots performance on November 2nd.

Watch the ApHC website and the Appaloosa Journal for more news and information about the Appaloosa Advantage Program including the details you will need to get the fullest advantages from your 2008 ApHC membership.
