Update your Appaloosa’s status

Now is a great time to update your facility records for 2008. When a registered Appaloosa dies, notify the ApHC and include the following: name; registration number; month; day and year of death; and signature of owner. You may also submit the original Certificate of Registration to the ApHC, though it’s not necessary.

Additionally, when an Appaloosa has lived 30 years past January 1 of its foaling year, it will be presumed dead and its records marked accordingly. If the horse is still alive, please contact the ApHC and provide satisfactory evidence that the horse is alive. We ask that you do so on an annual basis after the horse is 30 years old.

Transporting semen?

If you’re transporting semen for ApHC breeding purposes, it must be shipped along with a Semen Transportation Certificate, a four-ply carbon-copy form. The stallion owner, lessee or authorized agent should complete the top portion, Semen Collection, and retain the gold copy for their records. The remaining copies should be sent with the semen. The person inseminating the mare should complete the bottom portion, Insemination Certificate, and retain the yellow copy for the mare owner. The pink copy should be returned to the stallion owner after the Insemination Certificate is completed.
To avoid a late fee, the mare owner, lessee or authorized agent must return the white copy to the ApHC within 30 days of each shipment, regardless of whether the mare conceives.

For additional mare insemination forms, please contact the ApHC at 208-882-5578 ext. 300. Because these forms are four-ply carbon-copy, they aren’t available on the web site.
