Appaloosa Email Service
Now Available
An Appaloosa Horse Club (ApHC) membership now offers more than ever!
The ApHC is proud to announce that ApHC members can now communicate
to the world using Appaloosa Email!
In addition to amazing perks and significant discounts on premium
brands, ApHC members now have their own Appaloosa Email address. This
unique email community offers up-to-date ApHC notifications, an ApHC
calendar, shared contacts, secure log-in and 1 GB of storage. The
Appaloosa Email service has the familiar look of Microsoft Outlook,
but is purely Appaloosa. It one of many ways to tell the world the
Appaloosa is your breed of choice!
Each ApHC member has one FREE Appaloosa Email address, but if one
Appaloosa Email is not enough, additional email service is available
for $25 per address per year.
ApHC members can access their Appaloosa Email account by visiting
www.appaloosaemail.com,
using first and last name for user identification and their ApHC seven
digit membership number as a temporary password.
For questions or concerns regarding the new Appaloosa Email, the ApHC
is happy to provide quality customer support from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Changes in Payment
Methods
Starting January 1, 2009, the ApHC will no longer accept Discover
credit cards. MasterCard, Visa, checks and money orders in U.S.
funds are acceptable. Bank wiring is also available.

| It’s Time for
Membership Renewal The Appaloosa
Horse Club (ApHC) would like to remind all current and returning
members that now is the time to renew your ApHC membership! All
memberships, with the exclusion of lifetime and one-time youth memberships,
will expire Dec. 31, 2008!
In order to continue receiving uninterrupted service of the Appaloosa
Journal, you must renew or join the ApHC by Dec. 1, 2008. If membership
is not renewed by Dec. 1, 2008, members will not receive the January
2009 issue of the Appaloosa Journal.

Trail Rides
If your Appaloosa is enrolled in the Distance Program and is ridden
on ApHC-sponsored trail rides, he can earn mileage toward a 400-mile
register of merit. A signed mileage log sheet must be in the office
by December 15, 2008 to qualify. The ride manager or trail coordinator
must sign the log. The chief scout’s signature from the Chief
Joseph Trail Ride is also acceptable.

| Ride Report
Reminder
The time period for submitting your 10-day ride report forms for
endurance and competitive trail rides is flexible. All reports
of mileage must be submitted no later than December 15, 2008.
If any events are ridden after November 30, the mileage will be
placed on the 2009 ride year—December 1, 2008–November
30, 2009

Photos!
If you’ve taken photographs at ApHC t rail or distance events,
we’d love to see them! If we use your photo in promotional
materials, including the **Journal,** your name will appear on the
photo credit and you’ll be published!

Distance Program
Ride Report Reminder
If your Appaloosa is enrolled in the Distance Program and competes
in endurance or competitive trail riding, the time period for submitting
your 10-day ride report orm is flexible. However, all reports of
mileage **must** be received in the office by December 15, 2008,
to be counted. The ride year officially ends November 30, so mileage
for riding events after that date will be placed on the 2009 ride
year.

Trail Ride Applications
Deadlines
Dates for 2009 ApHC-sponsored trail rides are still in the works,
but deadlines for applications will be set six weeks prior to each
ride instead of four weeks. This will greatly enhance our ability
to plan the rides and ensures that adequate services will be ready
by ride time.

Regional Club
Rebates
We have extended the Regional Club Rebate Program for 2009! The
ApHC is offering chartered regional clubs a $10.00 *rebate for each
**new ApHC adult membership they acquire in 2008 & 2009. The
re-designed ApHC membership forms include a location for each chartered
regional club to write their club name and charter number so they
can receive credit for the **new ApHC adult membership. The new
membership forms list all of the great benefits and value of having
an ApHC membership. Memberships purchased online include a location
for the new member to credit their regional club.
It doesn't get much easier than this to earn money for your club!

| Regional Club
and International Affiliate Reminders
The
Appaloosa Horse Club would like to remind regional clubs and international
affiliates of important 2009 deadlines that are just around the
corner!
Exemplary Club award submissions must be received
in the office no later than January 30. Make sure your club competes
for this prestigious honor, and for the chance to win up to $700!
Annual reports must be in office no later than
February 15. These reports are available on the ApHC
Web site regional club page. Membership rosters must be in
office by July 15. All submissions must be sent to ApHC headquarters.

| Attention Stallion
Owners Owners of all stallions
registered with the ApHC or an approved breed must file an annual
stallion breeding report on or before November 30, 2008, to avoid
the late fee. A separate report must be filed for each stallion
and should list each mare exposed to the stallion and semen transported
from the stallion. Stallion owners should distinguish between
natural breeding, artificial insemination and transported semen
breedings. Stallion breeding report forms and complete rules are
available at www.appaloosa.com.
Faxed copies are not acceptable.

Racing Reminders
To be eligible for year-end awards, be sure to send in your annual
starters fee. The $10 fee is to be paid before a horse's official
race start. See Rule 408.A. in the 2008
Official Handbook for more details. |

Judges
Judges that are due to attend the Color Breed Council Judges Seminar
can find more information and registration forms at www.colorbreedcouncil.com.
The seminar will be held at the Biltmore in Oklahoma City January
24–February 1, 2009.
