ApHC E-newsletter, December 2009
Member’s Only online services
Beginning October 1, ApHC members were granted access to records of any ApHC-registered horse, allowing members to investigate prospective breedings or purchases. Members are able to purchase any horse’s information including pedigree, production, performance and awards. The reports are reasonably priced, ranging from $1 to $5. Members will continue to have free access to their own horse’s information as well as 10 free pedigrees until December 31, 2009. Effective January 1, 2010, your 10 free pedigrees per month will be replaced with a $10 per month credit toward data services. That’s $120 worth of free services per year just for being a member! Additional services can be purchased as needed.

Now is a great time to update your facility records for 2010. When a registered Appaloosa dies, the owner should notify the ApHC via letter, including name, registration number, month, day and year of death and owner signature. You may also submit the original ApHC Certificate of Registration, though it’s not necessary. Additionally, when an Appaloosa has lived 30 years past January 1 of its foaling year, it will be presumed dead and its ApHC records marked accordingly. If the horse has not actually died, the owner may contact the ApHC with satisfactory evidence that the horse is alive, which is then required on an annual basis.
