Live commercials at the 2010 National Show

During the National Appaloosa Show and Youth World Championship Appaloosa Show, the ApHC will offer live Web casts that broadcast each class in the schedule. This year, the ApHC is excited to offer businesses and individuals the chance to reach the audience that tunes in via the Web with live commercials run during breaks in the action.

Commercials are 60 seconds in length and include audio and video, just like a real television commercial! The live feed typically receives over 34 thousand hits, with an average viewing time of over 28 minutes—there’s no other way to reach potential clients or customers than this new opportunity.

Breaks occur after every class while the tractor drags the arena, and certain events have drags during the course of the class. Packages begin at only $400. Reach a virtual audience by calling (208) 882-5578 ext. 235 or e-mailing marketing@appaloosa.com today!

Canadians can dual-register Appaloosas

The ApHC welcomes dual-registration of Appaloosa Horse Club of Canada (ApHCC) horses! It’s simple—no stallion breeding reports, breeder’s certificates, or transfers of ownership necessary! To receive an ApHC Certificate of Registration, simply submit your request along with a photocopy of the front and back of the ApHCC Certificate of Registration, four current photographs of your horse, clearly showing both sides, a complete front and rear view, and a $100 fee (US funds). ApHC registration classification and eligibility are subject to ApHC rules and regulations.

Non-pro ownership reminder

Please note that Rule 900.I. in the 2010 Official Handbook of the ApHC states, “A non-pro who shows for a person other than a member of his/her family may not show in a class restricted to non-pros at the same show.” Therefore, non-pros are not allowed to show in non-pro classes at the same show at which they show in an open class exhibiting a horse that is not wholly owned by the non-pro or member of their family (relationship is defined in rule 900.J.).

You may not show a horse for a friend or any other individual in open classes and still show your own horse in non-pro events. If you co-own a horse with friends or a business partner and you show that horse in open classes, you are not eligible to show in non-pro classes at the same show, even though the horse you would exhibit in non-pro classes is wholly owned by you or by members of your family. That situation doesn't satisfy the “family relationship” guidelines of rule 900.J.

If you have any questions about this rule, please contact the ApHC office at (208) 882-5578 ext. 400.

Regional club nominations for 2010 World Show

Forms are now available at www.appaloosa.com for regional clubs to submit nominations for the World Show. Go to www.appaloosa.com and click on World Show for the link to the packet. Regional clubs may nominate their top 5 horses in each class. Those that have earned at least 1 national point in that class will automatically receive an invitation to compete at the 2010 World Show. Effective September 1, 2009, and to qualify for the 2010 World Show, an exception may be made to the one (1) national point requirement if it is documented on forms requested from and provided by the ApHC and submitted to the regional club by the owner of the horse by the World qualifying point cutoff deadline that the horse was entered and attempted in good faith to earn points under at least five (5) different judges in that class during that qualifying year but could not earn the required one (1) point needed for a regional nomination because there were no other entries in that class.

These waivers are available at www.appaloosa.com along with the regional club nomination packet. They must be completed by the owner or exhibitor of the horse, signed by the show secretary or show manager of the shows at which they attempted to compete and submitted to the regional club in advance of the point cut-off deadline. Regional clubs will include these completed forms with their nomination packet. Those horses nominated by the regional club that do not have one national point in the class but do have the completed waivers included with the nomination packet will receive an invitation to compete at the World Show in the classes in which the properly completed paperwork has been submitted.

Please contact (208) 882-5578 ext. 248 with any questions you have about this process.

Novice Youth and Non-Pro information
on-line now!

If you plan on showing in any novice classes at ApHC-approved shows in 2010, you’ll need proof of your novice status. Please log on to www.appaloosa.com. Click on “Show” and then on “Verify Your Membership & Novice Eligibility Here”. Then type in your membership number for an updated list of classes in which you are eligible to compete as a novice. Print that list and take to any ApHC-approved shows that you attend to provide as proof of novice eligibility.

Some changes were made to the novice program for the 2010 show year. As with any new program, the potential for a “glitch” exists until we’ve had adequate time to test the system. We’ve recently become aware of a slight problem that may have positively affected your novice status. If you have previously contacted the ApHC office for information on your novice eligibility or if you’ve already printed your novice information from the ApHC Web site, we encourage you to check that listing again. You may actually be eligible for additional novice classes from which you were previously excluded.

Please contact the Show Department at (208) 882-5578 ext. 400 or by email at show@appaloosa.com with any questions. We apologize for any confusion this may have created and we wish you the best of luck as you pursue your Appaloosa goals this show season!
