National & Youth World Show Updates

The pre-entry deadline for National Show & Youth World Show is May 17, 2011. Entries received in the ApHC office on or before this date will be processed at the pre-entry prices and will appear in the show program. Entries received after this date will be processed at 1-1/2 times the pre-entry fee.
A non-pro or youth exhibitor may enter nine classes at regular prices and may enter a 10th class for free! This option is available on pre-entries only! Equipment, cattle and NSBA charges must still be paid on all classes even if these are assessed in the class in which the non-pro or youth exhibitor does not have to pay the entry fee. This is available to non-pro and youth exhibitors regardless of the number of horses they exhibit, and is based solely on the number of classes in which that non-pro and youth exhibitor pre-enters. Entries for multiple horses must be received together in order to credit the exhibitor for the fee class. See the 64th National Show/World Championship Youth Show premium book and entry forms for complete guidelines regarding this option.
Stall reservations and full payment must be received in the ApHC office by May 24, 2011. Any reservations submitted after June 3 will be assessed a late fee of 1-1/2 times the on-time stall fee.

Thank you to Napa Auto Parts of Ithaca, New York for sponsoring the non-pro 35 & over and the non-pro masters versatility awards. These new awards will be presented in 2011 through 2015. Points are calculated on a one-horse/one-rider basis using the regular national point system scale. Points must have been earned in both showmanship and performance with a minimum of 5 points being earned in the lowest division. The non-pro with the highest number of points in these respective divisions with one horse will receive a custom-made sterling silver belt buckle compliments of Napa Auto Parts. In these times of financial difficulty, the ApHC wants to do everything we can to alleviate extra expense for our members! With show season upon us, it is important that your Appaloosa be registered, transferred, advanced, or entered in the Performance Permit program prior to showing. We don't want you to have to pay a RUSH fee in order to have your registration work completed in time for your show!

While turn-around time varies based on a number of variables, the ApHC suggests an allowance of six weeks for registration work completion. Please contact us at least ten days prior to your show date to be certain your work will not require a RUSH payment to be completed in time. Hopefully you will be pleasantly surprised to find your processed work in your mailbox earlier than predicted! But, as the saying goes, better safe than sorry. We look forward to receiving your registration work!

It's not just a pretty piece of paper...

Integrity, Preservation, Heritage...
Register your Appaloosa—without papers it's just another horse!

ApHC registration increases the value of your Appaloosa, creates numerous opportunities for you, or a future owner, through local, regional, and national activities, and sets your Appaloosa apart from those without papers. Life with an ApHC-registered Appaloosa is a rewarding experience and the ApHC is here to assist you in any way possible! Click here for more information.

Register now or wait?

We realize many breeders wait to register foals with the hope that they will be easily recognizable as eligible for Regular (#) registration classification. However, we encourage you take advantage of LOWER REGISTRATION FEES and apply for registration before your foals reach 6 months of age. Remember, Non-Characteristic (N) Appaloosa may be advanced to Regular (#) registration classification—FREE OF CHARGE—as long as the advancement application is postmarked within one year of the date the horse was originally registered. If your Appaloosa is denied advancement to Regular (#) and resubmitted at a later date, a small advancement fee of $25 applies.

ApHC members can register fillies and colts for a registration fee of only $30 as long as the application is postmarked between their foal date and 6th month foal date. After their 6th month foal date to their 12th month foal date the fee increases to $50. After their 12th month foal date to their 24th month foal date the fee increases to $100.
For example, if your foal was born March 5th, you have until September 5th of the year foaled to have the registration application postmarked and to register the foal for the $30 member fee.

Aged Horse Special

There has never been a better time to register Appaloosas over two years of age! In an effort to meet the financial needs of our members, aged horses can now be registered for the reduced rate of only $150!

Pedigreed Geldings and Hardship Registration

The registration fee for pedigreed geldings is only $50 regardless of age. And, registration of hardship geldings and spayed mares displaying Appaloosa characteristics to be eligible for Regular (#) classification is only $100 regardless of age.

Foal Name Selection Q & A

Q: When I applied for ApHC-registration of my new Appaloosa, I submitted three name choices. I would have been happy with any of them, but instead, the ApHC named my foal and didn't use one of my choices. Why did you do that? And, can I change his name?

A: Many breeders think Appaloosa name selection is one the best parts of applying for registration! Appaloosa owners are so creative when it comes to naming foals! With almost 700,000 Appaloosas registered, it is often disappointing when the name choices submitted cannot be used.

Semen Collection and Insemination Certificates

There is a new look to ApHC semen collection and insemination certificates. These are to be used for cooled transported or frozen semen. The ApHC must be notified of the use of cooled transported or frozen semen, even when the cooled or frozen semen is used on the premises of the stallion. The forms must be properly completed and returned to the ApHC postmarked within 30 days of each insemination regardless of whether or not the mare conceives in order to avoid the $25 late fee assessed the mare owner, lessee, or authorized agent. Please contact us if you have any questions or concerns about the use of cooled transported or frozen semen.
