Non-Pro Sportsmanship Awards

Each year at the National and World Championship Appaloosa Horse Shows, a Non-Pro earns the Non-Pro Sportsmanship Award for their exemplary conduct. Non-Pro Sportsmanship Award winners exemplify the qualities of good sportsmanship, friendliness, a positive attitude, and the willingness to help others. Individuals who earn this award have respect for their fellow competitors, observe the rules and regulations as set forth by Show Management, and lead as examples in fairness. The awarded individual displays graciousness in both winning and losing, and is a role model for all.

How are the winners selected?.......

A selected group of individuals, who are present at each show, are nominated to be a member of the selection committee. These members remain anonymous and keep their eyes open throughout the shows for individuals who exemplify good sportsmanship. At the end of each show, votes are collected from committee members and an individual is named Non-Pro Sportsman of that show.

Do you accept nominations?.......

The Non-Pro Sportsmanship Award selection committee does accept nominations. In the Show office at both the Nationals and World Championship shows, a ballot box is displayed on a table where people may submit nominations. The nomination should include the recommended individuals name, as well as a short explanation why they are deserving. The selection committee takes these comments into consideration and can even be used as a tiebreaker when determining the next sportsmanship award.
